At Dream Center Academy (DCA), we believe in transforming dreams into reality. Our 2023-24 Annual Report showcases a year of milestones, achievements, and growth as we continue to empower students in Gaston County. Here are the key highlights:

A Vision Realized

Since its founding in 2017, DCA has been on a mission to empower students to own their education and develop the academic and social skills needed to succeed. This year, we reached an incredible milestone: the graduation of our first cohort, the Class of 2024.

• 100% Graduation Rate: Every student from our first class graduated high school college- and career-ready.
• Paths to Success: Of the 20 graduates, 18 are attending college, and 2 are enrolled in trade schools. Impressively, 85% of these graduates will be first-generation college students.

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

DCA serves students from western Gaston County, where high poverty rates and lower educational attainment create significant challenges. Our innovative program is designed to address these barriers:

• 7-Year Journey: Students join DCA the summer before 6th grade and remain with us through high school graduation.
• Comprehensive Support: Certified teachers and skilled professionals provide academic enrichment, job shadowing, internships, and individualized college and career planning.

2023-24 Program Impact

Our program’s design aims to improve student outcomes in numerous ways, including school attendance, academic performance, and post-graduation success. This year, our students achieved remarkable results:

• Positive Attendance: 80% demonstrated consistent attendance.
• Behavioral Growth: 93% exhibited positive behavior.
• Academic Success: 84% earned grades of C or higher, with 54% achieving Honor Roll status.

A Growing Community of Support

DCA’s mission is made possible by the generosity of our community. In 2023-24, we saw a 20% increase in overall support, with individual contributions growing by 74%:

• Major Donors: Our supporters include individuals, foundations, and local organizations, all investing in the success of our students.
• Fundraising Milestones: DCA raised $730,060 in 2023-24, up from $130,000 in our inaugural year.

Our graduates may have reached the finish line of their high school journey, but their connection to DCA doesn’t end here. Moving forward, we will expand our alumni engagement initiatives to support their continued success in higher education and beyond.
